We are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to experience two weeks of both Chinese Medicine and Culture. The trip offers Western doctors and healthcare professionals the opportunity to experience medicine as practiced in Chinese hospitals as well as presenting a unique occasion to sample Chinese life on both a professional and personal level. Doctors, their spouses and their family are all welcome, as free time will be spent feasting, sightseeing and relaxing.

> 13 nights with 6 mornings or afternoons of clinical tuition and lectures on Advanced Chinese medical diagnostics at GuangXi Medical University affiliated integrative hospitals.

> See first hand how the Chinese Hospitals are focusing on integrating Chinese and Western medicine.

> Practical sessions, focusing on internal medicine, dermatology, pain management and acupuncture tehniques.

> Visit a Chinese herbal pharmacy at GuangXi University Hospital.

> Visit Chinese Materia Medica Garden in GuangXi, an important on site study to take a closer look at herbs.

> An extensive sightseeing and shopping programme cross Hong Kong, Macau, GuangXi NanNing. The local flea markets, culture activities and a guided city tours will also be exciting parts of both trips.

The ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral in Macau are one of Macau's most famous landmarks. In 2005, they were officially enlisted as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site...

Eye-catching tiles in swirling waves floor the Largo do Senado (Senate Square), which provides the city's focal point and is the start of most people's exploration of Macau.

Medicinal Herb Botanical Garden is one of the biggest medicinal herb garden in China with a total plantation of over 2,100 kinds. The garden is divided into five sections of GuangXi special herbs, woody plant, animal for medical use and the herbs ranged according to their curative effects and according to the medicinal function. This garden of medicinal herbs and blooming flowers is open to visitors and also used for scientific research, teaching and providing medicine.

This trip includes full attendance for clinical participants at the “International Conference on Chinese medicine” organised by the World Federation of?Chinese Medicine Societies of which the CMIR is a founding member and Professor Mei is a vice-chairman.

The trips of 2006 and 2007 were great success, with both doctors and their spouses expressing satisfaction and enjoyment of their experience in China. It was a good example of the CMIR recipe for East-West exchange – a balanced mix of academic seriousness with cultural enjoyment.
